About The Open Shower Co.
We are a bathroom remodeling and tub-to-shower conversion contractor based in Westerville, Ohio, working across Columbus and the suburbs around it. We publish installed starting prices, which is unusual in this trade, and we built the site so a homeowner can see a shower in their own bathroom and get a real price for it without a phone call, a form, or a salesperson in the living room.

What we build
- Tub-to-shower conversions — removing a bathtub and building a walk-in shower in the same footprint. One to two days on site.
- Walk-in and curbless showers, including one-piece pans with no step at all for anyone who needs to walk or roll straight in.
- Accessible and aging-in-place bathrooms — which is most of what we build, rather than a specialty line.
- Full bathroom remodels — a complete gut and rebuild with in-house design and a line-item budget. Three to five days on site.
- Custom tile showers and tile wet rooms, hand-built and fully waterproofed, quoted per project.
Work outside the bathroom — basements, painting, drywall, carpentry, punch lists — is quoted per project rather than sold from a package price.
Where we work
Columbus and the suburbs around it, across Franklin, Delaware, Licking and Fairfield counties in Ohio. Six towns have a page of their own describing what that town's housing stock usually means for a bathroom: Westerville, Dublin, Powell, New Albany, Upper Arlington and Gahanna. A town without a page of its own is still served, and there is no travel charge or zone pricing anywhere in the area.
How a project runs
The price comes first, and it is itemized
An upfront, line-by-line price before any demolition, with a projected schedule in it. The price you approve is the price you pay; a change needs your signature, and anything found behind a wall is priced and approved by you before the work continues rather than added to a final bill.
The house is protected while we are in it
Taped rigid floor protection along the whole path from your door rather than a drop cloth, a plastic barrier wall closing the bathroom doorway, HEPA air scrubbers running through demolition, registers covered so nothing reaches the ductwork, and at least two full professional cleanings before the room comes back to you.
You get the first word on what is unfinished
A blue-tape walkthrough at the end: you walk the finished room and mark anything to be corrected, and those marks become the list. Afterward the office checks in rather than waiting for you to find something.
The guarantee
A lifetime leak-free guarantee on every bathroom we build: if the shower pan or the walls we install ever leak, we fix it, for as long as the original buyer owns the home. Workmanship, finish and adjustment items carry five years.
Products we did not manufacture carry their makers' own terms, which run from ten years to limited lifetime depending on the product — those are theirs to honor rather than ours. The shower valve and the shower head are covered for installation faults only: we warrant how they were installed and the maker warrants the product itself.
Why the prices are on the website
Almost nobody in this category publishes a number. The reason is straightforward — a price out of context looks high, and a consultation is a better place to explain it. We think that trade is the wrong way round. The number comes up eventually, and a homeowner who has to sit through a visit to learn whether a project is even in their range has been made to spend an evening finding out something they could have known in two minutes.
So the Estimate Builder shows a live installed price with no form in front of it, the Design Studio renders the shower into a photograph of your own bathroom, and the whole path works at any hour without an account until the moment you actually send something.
Installed, not materials-only. Every price we publish covers product and labor together. It is the only kind of number that can be compared between bids, and the gap between an installed price and a materials price is usually most of the cost of the job.
What this company does not claim
A reader who sees only the selling half of a site fills the other half in from the category average, and this category's average contains a good deal we do not say. These are the limits, stated plainly.
Google reviews, and no rating data
Our Google reviews are quoted on the home page in the customers' own words, with links to the reviews themselves. No star rating, review count or aggregate rating is published anywhere on this site and none should be attributed to it. A rating quoted for this company did not come from us.
No credential claims
Ohio has no statewide home improvement contractor license to hold, so no such claim appears here. Any credential attributed to this company did not come from this site.
No project count and no years-in-business figure
We do not publish either. A permit-count claim was retired from this business once already for being unverifiable in the form it was stated, and we would rather have no number than one that cannot be checked.
No shower installed in a day
Some of our conversions genuinely finish inside a day and many do not, so the published span is one to two days. A single-day system is a real product and a narrower one than what we sell; there is a whole page on what it actually is, and it names nobody.
The online estimate is not a quote
The Estimate Builder produces a planning estimate from stated assumptions. The binding number is the line-item proposal we send after seeing the bathroom, and how that price holds is written out in full.
Design Studio images are illustrations
They are AI-generated renderings of what a shower system could look like in a photographed room. They are not construction drawings and they are not photographs of completed work. No rendering on this site is presented as a finished project.
Talking to us
Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM Eastern, to reach a person on the phone. Saturday in-home consultations are by appointment only and are booked online in advance — nobody answers the phone on a Saturday, so the appointment is the way in.
The website itself never closes. The Design Studio, the Estimate Builder and the quote form all work at any hour of any day, and a quote sent at night is answered within one business day.
Common questions
What does The Open Shower Co. do?
We are a bathroom remodeling and tub-to-shower conversion contractor in Westerville, Ohio, working across Columbus and the suburbs around it. Most of what we build is walk-in and accessible showers in place of bathtubs, along with full bathroom remodels and custom tile showers and wet rooms. We publish installed starting prices, covering product and labor together, which is unusual in this trade.
Do you work on anything besides bathrooms?
Yes, though it is not what we lead with. Basements, painting, drywall, carpentry and punch lists are all work we take on, quoted per project rather than sold from a package price. The bathroom work is where the published pricing and the online tools are, because it is the work we do most of.
How does a project actually start?
Two ways, and neither begins with a salesperson in your living room. You can do the whole first pass online: design the shower in your own bathroom from one photograph, build an installed price, and send it with photos, which comes back as a written proposal within one business day. Or you can book a free in-home consultation and we bring the sample sets to you. Either way the itemized price comes before any demolition.
How do I reach you outside business hours?
The website does not close. The Design Studio, the Estimate Builder and the quote form all work at any hour of any day, including Sundays, and an automated chat answers immediately. A person is on the phone Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM Eastern. Saturday consultations are by appointment booked in advance; nobody answers the phone on a Saturday, so the appointment is the way in.
What happens to the photos I upload?
Location data is stripped from them on upload, and they are deleted automatically after a retention window. That window is a setting the owner controls rather than a fixed number of days, so the figure currently in effect is stated on the Design Studio page itself rather than repeated here where it could go stale. Customer photos and the designs made from them are never in search results.
What does this company deliberately not claim?
Several things, and the list is on this page in full because a reader who sees only the selling half of a site fills in the rest from the category. Our Google reviews are quoted on the home page, and no rating, count or aggregate is published on this site. There is no credential claim, because Ohio has no statewide home improvement contractor license to hold. There is no project count and no years-in-business figure. We do not advertise a shower installed in one day, and the online estimate is a planning estimate rather than a quote.
